The next consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran were held in Baku, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, AzVision.az reports.
The Azerbaijani delegation at the consultations was headed by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emil Safarov, and the Iranian delegation was headed by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alirza Mahmudi.
As part of the consular consultations, the Iranian delegation was received by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov, during the meeting the current state of cooperation between the two countries and the directions for the development of this cooperation were discussed.
The consultations were attended by representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor's Office, the State Customs Committee and the State Border Service.
The talks discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the consular sphere, the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens of the two countries, including the possibility of providing the necessary consular and legal assistance to citizens who have encountered difficulties in certain situations.
At the same time, issues of cooperation between the internal affairs agencies, border and customs authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran were touched upon within the framework of the consultations.
