The foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Iran held another round of consular consultations.
The talks were led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, and Alireza Mahmoudi, Director General of Consular Affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, News.Az reports.As part of the consultations, the Iranian delegation also met with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov.
The sides exchanged views on the current state of and prospects for cooperation between the two countries.
The consultations were attended by officials of the Ministries of Justice and Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Customs Committee and the State Border Service.
The talks featured a wide range of issues, including prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the field of consular, the protection of the rights and freedoms of the citizens of two countries, the possibility of providing the necessary consular and legal assistance to citizens who have faced difficulties in some areas, the extradition of persons etc.
The meeting also saw discussions on cooperation between the internal affairs, border and customs authorities of Azerbaijan and Iran.
